Georgia Colleges and Universities to Waive College Application Fees in November
ATLANTA, GA – The Georgia Student Finance Commission has partnered with the University System of Georgia (USG), the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), private institutions, and Georgia Military College to provide application fee waivers to Georgia high school seniors during Georgia Apply to College Month. More than forty colleges and universities have agreed to waive their application fees for high school seniors between November 1st and 30th.
“As the parents of three daughters who have all pursued higher education, Marty and I know firsthand what it takes to prepare for college, and we’re grateful for the Georgia Student Finance Commission, the University System of Georgia, the Technical College System of Georgia, private institutions, and Georgia Military College joining together to support students in getting their applications submitted with this incentive,” said Governor Brian Kemp. “We have made great strides in decreasing the costs of higher education to families and students, from eliminating the special institution fee to funding HOPE programs to cover at least 90 percent of tuition. We will continue working in the coming years to ensure our students and parents have every opportunity to succeed and pursue their educational goals.”
Over 250 high schools have partnered with the Georgia Student Finance Commission to promote Apply to College Month. Some schools automatically waive the fee in November, while others require a code to receive the waiver. The full list of participating schools and information on how to access the waivers may be found at GAfutures.
“While application fees may vary by institution, the cost savings to high school seniors taking advantage of these waivers can be significant. The Georgia Student Finance Commission applauds the efforts of our partner post-secondary institutions, and we have representatives ready to assist students with the application process, scholarship searches, and connections to resources,” said Georgia Student Finance Commission President Lynne Riley.
