Mark Pevey, Ph. D.

Mark Pevey is the Vice President for Strategic Research and Analysis for the Georgia Student Finance Commission, where he is responsible for the research, reporting, and analysis functions necessary to support the agency and to inform policy.

Mark has twenty years of experience in all levels and areas of public education, including K-12 education, higher education, and educator preparation and certification. He has worked for five of Georgia’s seven state education agencies. His roles and responsibilities have centered on education policy and the critical role of data.

Prior to his current position, Mark was with the Georgia Department of Education. Mark has also served as the Policy Director and CIO for the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, the state agency charged with educator certification, educator ethics, and educator-preparation program approval.

Prior to joining the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, Mark served as the Senior Executive Director for P-16 Data and Operations in the P-16 Department of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia (USG).

Mark earned his doctoral degree from Emory University in research and statistics in the area of psychology.
