50 Georgia Colleges and Universities Will Waive College Application Fees this November
ATLANTA, GA – The Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC) has partnered with the University System of Georgia (USG), the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), private institutions, and Georgia Military College to provide application fee waivers to Georgia high school seniors during Georgia Apply to College Month. Fifty colleges and universities have agreed to waive their application fees for high school seniors between November 1st and 30th.
“This Apply to College Month, schools from the Technical College System of Georgia, University System of Georgia, and private institutions are coming together with the support of the Georgia Student Finance Commission to waive application fees for students, helping ease the application process for seniors and families across Georgia,” said Governor Brian Kemp. “Initiatives like this and the GEORGIA MATCH direct admissions program are just some of the innovative steps our state is taking to unlock opportunities for the next generation of hardworking Georgians.”
This is the 3rd year that GSFC has promoted application fee waivers for Apply to College Month in November. Over 300 high schools have partnered with the Georgia Student Finance Commission to host events promoting the fee waivers and the Peach State's new direct admissions initiative, GEORGIA MATCH.
"November is an ideal time for students to claim their spot through the GEORGIA MATCH dashboard as their application fees will automatically be waived," said Georgia Student Finance Commission President Lynne Riley. "Last year, over 16,000 Georgia seniors completed at least one college application using these fee waivers. While application fees may vary by institution, the cost savings to high school seniors applying to multiple colleges can be significant."
There is no limit on the number of schools a student may apply to using the application fee waivers. Some institutions will automatically waive the application fee for students applying through the institution’s website, while other institutions may require a code. The full list of participating schools and information on how to access the application fee waivers may be found at GAfutures.org.
The mission of the Georgia Student Finance Commission is to help students pursue higher education with the least out-of-pocket costs possible.
